Why websites for non-profits are different
Before donors write a cheque, they Google you
Grant committees, corporate sponsors, and major donors all do the same thing before they donate: they check your website. And what they find shapes everything that comes next: whether they reach out, whether they trust you, and whether they choose your organization over the one they visited before yours.
A website that looks outdated, unprofessional, or unclear doesn't just lose visitors; it loses funding, partnerships, and credibility you worked hard to earn.
Your website serves five audiences at once, and none of them want the same thing
Donors want proof of impact. Volunteers want to know how to help. The people you serve want to feel safe and welcomed. Grant committees want transparency and accountability. The media want facts and stories. Most websites are built for one audience. A non-profit website has to serve all five: simultaneously and without confusing any of them.
That requires intentional content architecture and strategic design, and not a template with your logo dropped in.
The people you serve need to find you And feel welcome when they do
The community members, families, and individuals who need your services are searching for help online right now. If your website is hard to navigate, unclear about what you offer, or feels cold and institutional, they'll move on before they ever reach out.
A well-built non-profit website speaks two languages simultaneously: the professional credibility language that funders need to see, and the warm, human language that makes the people you serve feel safe enough to ask for help.
Your message is complex; Your website needs to make it simple
Non-profits do complicated, multi-layered work. Most non-profit websites are written by passionate insiders, which means the copy makes perfect sense internally but loses everyone else within seconds.
I come to non-profit website design with a journalism and communications background. Translating complex organizational work into plain, compelling language that moves people to act is exactly what I do.

Why Work With Me
I come to non-profit website design with a background that most web designers don't have: journalism, communications, and years of working directly with community organizations, charities, and mission-driven institutions.
I've built websites and provided communications support for organizations including Kids Included, the Edmonton Racewalk Club, the Cactus and Succulent Society of Alberta, Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS), the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals, the University of Alberta, and Alberta Blue Cross.
That breadth of experience means I understand how community organizations actually work: lean teams, multiple stakeholders, and missions that deserve better communication than they usually get. Your website isn't just a marketing tool. It's how donors decide whether to trust you, how community members decide whether to reach out, and how funders decide whether your organization is worth investing in. Getting the words right isn't optional. It's everything.
I hold a HubSpot SEO certification and build every non-profit website on the E-E-A-T framework (the same standard Google uses to evaluate credible, trustworthy content). That means your website isn't just well-designed. It's built to be found, trusted, and acted on.
Every project is handled directly by me, not a junior designer and not an outsourced team. You work with someone who takes the time to understand your mission, your community, and your goals before writing a single word or designing a single page.
Design is never just visual; it's narrative. For non-profits, that narrative is the difference between a donor who gives and a donor who moves on.

Olga is straight-forward to talk to and her website is easy to navigate. I like web designers who cut through all the unnecessary decorative language and help people to get things up and running in a professional and collaborative way.
