THE PROJECT
"Breakfast in London, Dinner in Paris" by Kristina Babi is a celebration of culinary pleasure, exploring the refined tastes of France and the gastronomic adventures of London. A practical guide that inspires creativity in the kitchen with simple, authentic recipes, the book shines with love for life and motivates readers to embrace hedonism.
Kristina came to me for the book… and stayed for everything else. The project grew into a full creative suite: cover design, interior formatting, logo, promo materials, and an initial website for Kristina’s culinary business.
THE CHALLENGE
This was Kristina's debut. There was no existing brand, and no prior cover to build from. The cover needed to do something harder than fit into an established identity: it had to create the impression of a polished, professional author on its own, signalling credibility before a reader knew anything else about her. Everything that came after (the logo, the website, the promo materials) grew out of decisions made for that first cover.
THE APPROACH
book cover and interior design
With nothing established yet, the cover carried the full weight of first impressions. It needed to capture the spirit of the book (celebratory, warm, and unmistakably European), while signalling professional execution on its own. The interior layout followed the same standard, designed for readability and visual pleasure, with a structure that makes the recipes as inviting to look at as they are to cook.
brand identity
Once the cover proved the concept, a logo and visual identity followed — built around Kristina's personality as a solopreneur who is equally at home in a Parisian bistro and a London food market. Warm, refined, and distinctly personal.
promo materials
A cohesive set of promotional visuals built from the cover and brand assets: ready for social media, events, and online listings.
one page web design
A website that brings the full Kristina Babi culinary world together: her book, her blog, her recipes, and her story, in one warm, navigable digital home.
THE OUTCOME
A complete creative presence built outward from a single first book: from the cover that established Kristina as a credible author to the digital storefront that now represents her culinary brand. Every element connected, cohesive, and unmistakably Kristina.

Behind the Culinary Travel Book Cover Design
A clean, off-white hardback sets a warm, understated tone. Two small object photographs: a red London bus toy and an ornate spoon with an Eiffel Tower handle, paired with a simple fork—do the storytelling instead of busy illustration or food photography.
Splitting "Breakfast in London" and "Dinner in Paris" around the cutlery turns the objects into a literal divider between the two cities and themes the book moves between, while the hand-lettered script title contrasts with the clean sans-serif tagline, giving the cover a warm, personal feel that signals memoir as much as cookbook.
The result is a cover that communicates travel, home cooking, and quiet European charm without leaning on the usual clichés like steam, plates, or skyline silhouettes. By keeping the visual language simple and object-driven, the design invites the reader in rather than overwhelming them, fitting the book's own pitch as a practical, approachable guide rather than a stuffy culinary tome.
